J Oscar Winget, age 87, passed peacefully away at home in Monroe on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Oscar was born January 25, 1932 to Luther and Lavina Winget in Monroe. He was the youngest of 11 children. He married Carla Grover on September 2, 1952, in the Manti Temple. They are the parents of 5 children: twins, Daniel and Richard, Reed, Dawn, and Ruth. Richard and Reed are deceased. They also have 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Oscar was a career chemist for the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Reno, Nevada. His life was one of service. He was strongly involved in community service, both in Reno-Sparks and in Monroe. He also served in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe 3rd Ward Chapel. Friends may call for visitation Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Monday at the ward chapel in Monroe from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
