She was born March 23, 1922, in Monroe, Utah, daughter of Luther and Thirza Lavina Anderson Winget. She grew up in Monroe graduating from South Sevier High School. Glenda married Hyrum Lamar Spencer May 23, 1940, in the Manti Temple. Hyrum was killed in World War II on December 31, 1944, Hamburg, Germany. Glenda married Thurman Vinton Smith September 25, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a lifelong active member of the L.D.S. Church serving in many capacities in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She was a former employee of Gibsons, Woolworths, and J.C. Penneys and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well as an enthusiastic member of the Red Hatters.
