She was born in Russell, Kansas on August 6, 1923, to Gottfried and Amelia "Mollie" (Niedenthal) Stricker. She married Glenn E. Springer February 20, 1949 in Salina, Kansas and later joined him in a move to Peoria, IL where Glenn was hired as a mechanical engineer for Caterpillar, Inc. He passed away in 1988.
She was a longtime resident of Peoria, Illinois and member of University United Methodist Church. She taught in a one room schoolhouse for District #24 in Russell, Kansas for three years and later was employed by Peoria District #150 at Peoria High School for nine years as a records clerk, retiring in 1983. She also did volunteer work for her church and cancer organizations.
Her favorite activities included playing bridge, bowling, golfing, sewing, and attending Bradley basketball games. She enjoyed her dogs, traveling the world, and having a glass of wine. Lenetta took pride in her family, being the 4th oldest among 13 siblings, and loved to reminisce about growing up in Kansas. Her proudest accomplishments in life were her children and grandchildren.
Lenetta is survived by one son, John (Shelley) Springer of Salem, AR; one daughter, Lee Ann (Jim) Hohstadt of Peoria, IL; a daughter-in-law, Margie Springer of Naples, FL; four brothers: Elmer Stricker of Cedar Hill, TX, Roy "Bob" Stricker and Dean Stricker of Great Bend, KS, and Thomas "Tom" Stricker of Hill City, KS; three sisters: Elsena Bender of Great Bend, KS, Mary Jane Doonan of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kathryn Booth of Broken Arrow, OK; five granddaughters: Stacy Lenzie, Rachael Taylor, Sarah Healy, Allyson Pragovich, and Andrea Wicker; one grandson, Jacob Springer; and eight great grandchildren: Drew and Max Lenzie, Avery and Duncan Taylor, Heidi and Logan Healy, Lucas Springer, Anthony "Ace" Pragovich, and Owen Wicker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Springer; one son, William F. "Bill" Springer; parents, Gottfried and Mollie Stricker; four brothers: Harvey Stricker, Gottfried "Fritz" Stricker Jr., Glen Stricker, and an infant brother, Henry Hubert Stricker; and two sisters, Rozella Van Reenan and Helena "Helen" Michaelis.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
