She attended the University of Mississippi and Milsaps College. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, Debutante Club of Mississippi, Junior League of Jackson and Baton Rouge.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Walter Michel Sr. and Josephine Joachim Michel; husband, Thomas "Tom" Luther Head; brothers, Walter, Calvin, Jules and Melvin Michel; and sister, Marvis "Sissy" Trigg.
Survived by her two daughters, Crissie Head and Michel Barksdale; son-in-law, Eric Barksdale; two granddaughters, Morgan Leigh Barksdale and Maggi Claire Barksdale; sister, Marilyn Michel Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the loving and devoted care she received while a resident there, including the kindness and compassion she received during her final days. The family also wishes to acknowledge with special thanks the staff of Lifesource Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area or Lifesource Services of Baton Rouge.
