Margaret Michel Head, a longterm resident of Baton Rouge, died Friday, April 27, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Jackson, Miss.
Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church until Mass of Christian Burial, with the Rev. Victor Messina, celebrant. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, is in charge of arrangements.
She attended the University of Mississippi and Milsaps College. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, Debutante Club of Mississippi, Junior League of Jackson and Baton Rouge.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Walter Michel Sr. and Josephine Joachim Michel; husband, Thomas "Tom" Luther Head; brothers, Walter, Calvin, Jules and Melvin Michel; and sister, Marvis "Sissy" Trigg.
Survived by her two daughters, Crissie Head and Michel Barksdale; son-in-law, Eric Barksdale; two granddaughters, Morgan Leigh Barksdale and Maggi Claire Barksdale; sister, Marilyn Michel Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home for the loving and devoted care she received while a resident there, including the kindness and compassion she received during her final days. The family also wishes to acknowledge with special thanks the staff of Lifesource Hospice.
