Marilyn Ann Michel Anderson passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at St. Clare Manor after a long and courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. She was born in New Orleans to Joseph Walter Michel Sr. and Josephine Joachim Michel on May 5, 1927. Her family moved to Jackson, Miss., later that year where she resided until 1948 when she married Gary Johnson Anderson Sr. and moved to Baton Rouge. An avid card player, she loved an afternoon with the "girls" at the bridge table. She and Gary were among the founding members of St. Aloysius Parish. She always had a kind word, a quick smile and a welcoming heart. She was a loving and devoted mother and will be deeply missed by her many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Johnson Anderson Jr.; her parents, Joseph Walter Michel Sr. and Josephine Joachim Michel; a daughter, Margaret Lynn Anderson; brothers, Joseph Walter Michel Jr., Calvin (Toots) Michel and Melvin Michel; and sisters, Marvis (Sissy) Michel Trigg and Margaret Michel Head. She is survived by her children, Gary Johnson Anderson III and wife Grace, Walter Michel (Mike) Anderson Sr. and wife Tena, Marvis Anderson Cadwallader and husband Manch S. Cadwallader Jr., Gregory Scott Anderson and Debbie Anderson, Andree Anderson Scott and husband William Eugene (Bill) Scott, and Renee Anderson Nebel and husband Ray James Nebel.
