Alvin was a son of Jacob L. Miller and Barbara Byler who are also buried at Fairview Cemetery. At this point it is unknown what the B. stands for in Alvin's middle name.

Alvin Miller married Effie Pinkston on Apr. 8, 1903 in Larned, Kansas.

The 1925 Kansas State Census shows the Alvin B. Miller family farming in Garfield Township, Kiowa County, Kansas. Their neighbors are the P. D. Paxton family and the Homer A. George family.

Alvin told of a disagreement he once had with a Greensburg police officer and suggested they settle things when the officer was out of uniform.
I shook hands with Alvin and I can tell you he had a grip like a vise. (Both quotes from Gene H. Barnes 1928-2007, husband of Alvin's granddaughter, Vada (Miller) Barnes.)

Upon retirement, Alvin and Effie moved from their farm to the town of Greensburg, moving into an former Phillips 66 Service Station (gas station) building that had been converted into a house. This ex-service station is located about 4 blocks east of Main Street on Highway 54. (Per Wesley E. Stewart, son of Elsie (Miller) Stewart, Aug. 19, 2011.)
