Jack D. Cox, age 94 of Knoxville, TN passed away surrounded by family on Thursday January 24, 2019.

He was a member of Inskip Baptist Church and part of the Steadfast Sunday School class.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mattie Cox and numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sonya Cox and daughter and son-in-law Angie and Kevin Rose. Also, grandchildren, Brian and wife Amber, Cruz and wife Ashley and Morgan Cox and Sara, Anna and Jacob Lively. Great grandchildren, Addison, Aubrey, Dexan, Jack, and Elias Cox.

Jack served his country and was a veteran of WWII serving in the 7th Army, 36th Division, 143rd Regimen, Company M in the European theater. He received a Purple Heart, Silver Star and two Bronze stars for his service and valor.

He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5-7, with a service following at Inskip Baptist Church.

Family and friends will meet 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service with full military honors provided by the East Tennessee Veterans’ Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Inskip Baptist Church TWC Fund 4810 Rowan Road Knoxville, Tn 37912.
