COX, MR. JESS WILLARD - age 88, of New Tazewell, Tennessee, passed away July 19, 2013, at his home with his loving family beside him. Jess was born to Benjamin Ulys and Sally Housley Cox on January 12, 1925, in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Douglas Cox; brothers, Joe, Jim, Bill, J. Will, Robert and Ronnie Cox; sisters, Linda Giles, Della and Lillian McCarty; great grandson, Emmitt. Jess retired from Container Corp. and was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He kept himself busy in the door to door Bible ministry work. He served on the Regional Building projects. Jess was well known for his generous and humorous spirit. Being a very determined person enabled him to live his life to the fullest. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Ruth Moyers Cox; daughter, Anne McCoy and husband, Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Janice Cox; grandchildren, Amy Hill and husband, Dwayne, Vanessa McCoy, Katy England and husband, Adam, Billy Cox and wife, Raquel; great grandchildren, Emma, Ali, Dawson, Ruthie, Austin, Harrison, and Aidan; twin brother, Jack Cox and wife, Mattie; sister, Maggie Dykes; brother-in-law, Douglas Moyers; special friend and niece, Carolyn Moyers; and many friends and neighbors who have been precious to see to his needs while going through radiation and chemo therapy for lung and brain cancer. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, in the Claiborne-Overholt Chapel with Vaughn McCoy officiating. Music will provided by the congregation. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers: David Champagne, William Jess Cox, Dewayne Hill, Adam England, Gary Moon, and Tim Cox. Claiborne - Overholt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
