Mattie E. Cox, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, November 12, 2016. She was a member of Inskip Baptist Church. She was in the Ruth Sunday School Class, Past President of West Adair Garden Club and a published writer of poetry.

Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Josephine Merritt. Mattie is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack Cox; son, Tim Cox and his wife Sonya; a daughter, Angie Rose and her husband Kevin. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Brian, Cruz and Morgan Cox; grandchildren, Sara, Anna and Jake Lively; great-grandchildren, Addison, Aubree, Dexan and Jack; sister, Carlie Merchler; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 7 o'clock PM at Inskip Baptist Church 4810 Rowan Rd., Knoxville, TN 37912 with Pastor Mike Segers and Rev. Gordan Lee Dykes officiating. Friends will meet on Tuesday 10:45 o'clock at the Sherwood Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Friends may call at Inskip Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 o'clock PM on Monday.
