Funeral services were held at Paruna Baptist Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon for Mrs. J. W. Miller, who passed away Friday, Sept. 5. The sermon was by the pastor of the Methodist Church at Protection. Burial wa in the Willow Creek cemetery.
Mrs. Miller had been sick the last six months or more with heart trouble and was bedfast most of that time. She was taken to the hospital in Halstead, Kan., Monday of last week but the physicians gave them no encouragement.
Turley Malley Smith was born at Pettigrew, Ark., September 26, 1901, and lived there until September, 1919, when she came to Harper County to make her home. She was united in marriage to John W. Miller on December 1, 1920, and they have since made their home on a farm north of Selman. Three children were born to them but all died at birth.
Besides her husband, there are left to mourn her death, her father and mother and one brother, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Smith and Charles Smith of Pettigrew, Ark., eight sisters, Mrs. E. C. Kaylor of Williston, N.D., Mrs. Bill Brumett, of Drumright, Okla., Mrs. Andrew Lane of Stilwell, Okla., Mrs. Eph. Hamilton of Eldon, Okla., Mrs. Roscoe Johnson of Boston, Ark., Mrs. Everett Silvia, of Pettigrew, Ark., Mrs. Homer Barker of Friley, Ark., and Mrs. Frank Chase , of Selman, Okla., and a host of other relatives and friends.
