Henry Clay Babcock was born in Dallas County, Alabama, the son of Joseph Babcock, of Leyden, Massachusetts, and Ann Eliza Curtis Babcock of Georgia. It appears he first enlisted in Cpt. Beard's 90 Day Militia Dallas County Home Guard unit in April 1862. He later saw service in Lewis' Alabama Cavalry Battalion. In 1864 he enlisted in the Hunter Guards, a Dallas County Militia Home Guard unit. This is the last information, to date, found on Henry Clay Babcock. It is unknown if he survived the war. No post war documentation has been found on him to date. So, he possibly either died during the last year of the war, or after the war moved out of state. More research needed on Henry.
