Walter "Bill" F. Duncan, 88, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away December 30, 2018. Walter was the owner of Duncan Masonry Company. He did masonry contracting work for over 30 years in TN, AR, and MS. He was born in Whiteville, TN on December 18, 1930. He went into the U.S. Army in 1949 and served during the Korean War. Walter completed a bricklayer apprenticeship course in 1957 with Local no. 1 of TN. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, volunteering at the VA Memphis, Dancyville Community Center, and for Disabled Veterans. Most of all was a devoted family man, grounded in faith, his greatest love was God, his family and being of service to others. Walter was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He served on numerous mission trips to South America and helped build churches there. He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife Ethel Ann Duncan of 64 years; his daughters, Sharon Harris (Tommy), Denise Ables (Wayne); son, Derek Duncan (Dana); his sister, Margaret Martin; 6 grandsons, Benjamin Harris (Roz), Jeremy Harris (Malle), Sean Ables (Dianna), Christopher Ables, Andrew Duncan (Carlin), Jonathan Duncan; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hill (Austin); and 4 great-grandchildren, Marcus and Solara Duncan, and Julianna and Savanna Ables. Memorials may be made to The Gideons or to Disabled Veterans of America. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 2nd at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, January 3rd at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
