There should be an old monument which was the original one. The county pioneer cemetery committee ordered from the US Dept of Veterans Affairs a new monument not to replace but to augment his old monument.

It appears that William's original GAR marker may have been broken off its stake & just stuck down in the dirt in front of his new monument. Please notify DJ below if there is a way to have his original GAR marker mounted on a stake as is appropriate. Is there a blacksmith in Henry Co?

If some kind soul (SKS) knows more about William F Shepherd and/or any of his family please do contact DJ below. Thanks in advance (TIA).
