June Hash-Miller, 94, of Hampton, VA, former resident of Bluefield, WV for 57 years passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Northampton Convalescent & Rehab Center, Hampton, VA.
June was born July 18, 1922 in Fox, VA to the late Charles Gleason Hash (1888-1970) and Christie Anna Halsey-Hash (1892-1980). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph "Dale" Hash (1932-2012); and five sisters, Ruth Hash-Phipps (1914-2011), Ollie "Virginia" Hash-Sullivan (1915-2010), Logene Hash-Shupe (Deceased), Charlotte Loren Hash-Ashley (1918-2011), and Susie Robena Hash-Huggin (1924-2009).
She graduated from Independence High School in Independence, VA in 1940. During WWII, June worked for the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C. Upon her return, she met her husband of nearly 70 years, Roy in Chilhowie, VA and were married three months later. She was a member of Cumberland Heights Baptist Church in Bluefield, WV where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include her husband Roy G. Miller (1921-2018) of Bluefield, WV; daughter, Connie Miller-Bivens of Martinsburg WV; son, Keith Miller of Hampton VA; two brothers, Kelly G. Hash (B. 1920) of Galax, VA and Alex Hash of Clemson SC; one sister, Kathleen Hash-Arrington of Vinton VA; six grandchildren, Sean, Lisa, Sherry, Krista, Christie, and Diana; and nine great grandchildren, Lee, Hannah F., Sean Jr, Archer, Ella, Jacob, Hannah C., Savannah, and Dylan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV, with Pastor Jim Kestner officiating. Private burial will follow in Chilhowie, VA.
