RIVERTON-- Dean Palmer Smith, 78, our loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend, passed away July 29, 2000.

Born the youngest of 13 children Aug. 4, 1921 in West Jordan to August Otto and Ettie Hannah Smith. Married Lois Edwards Dec. 20, 1941. Dean was a man with many talents and interests. Dean drove a school bus for Jordan School District for 38 years, was on the Utah State Athletic Commission (boxing) for 28 years, vice president of the World Boxing Association, a member of the Alpine Country Club, organized the first Jordan Valley Riding Club, and operated Dean's Custom Meat Shop for 20 years.

Survived by his wife, Lois Smith, Riverton; son, Brent (Sue), Draper; daughter, Marla Smart, Riverton; brother, Earl Smith, Midvale; six grandchildren, Bret (Alyce), Brady (Jamie), Megan (Robin), Amy (Todd), Andrea (Jason), Shani (Jon); and four great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by son, Larry; daughter, Lynne; and 11 siblings, George, Joe, Frank, Lou, Glen, Walt, Ray, Jack, Dell, Hazel, Mable.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tues Aug 1, at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Mon. and Tues. one hour prior. Interment West Jordan Cemetery.
