John W. Smith, 89, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away Sept. 25, 1992 in the same home he was born in, January 21, 1903.
Jack was the fifth child of August Otto and Ettie Palmer Smith in a family of 13 children. He married Fedora Mousley Dec. 3, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and was an active member in the church. In his lifetime, Jack farmed, was a livestock trader, operated the Acme Feed and raised Charolois Cattle. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the compassion he gave his fellowmen.
Survivors are two sons, John C., Bluffdale; Ralph M., Kearns; daughter, Charmaine Smith, West Jordan; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Ray, Frank, Earl and Dean Smith. Preceded in death by his wife, daughter in-law, Lyn; sister and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1992, 11 a.m. in the Bingham Creek LDS Stake Center, 8920 South 1300 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
