Daughter of Barney and Johnnie Johnson Married James Howard Boggs. Mother of Michael (Melissa) and Mark Boggs (Elaine).Janice Linda Boggs, 82 of Kingsport died Tuesday, October 30, 2018
Her husband of 55 years, James Howard Boggs, her parents Barney and Johnnie Johnson, and brother, Clyde Johnson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Michael and Melissa Boggs of Kingsport and Mark and Elaine Boggs of Kingsport; three granddaughters, Tiffany Boggs, Kingsport, Dianna and Travis Grizzle, Weber City, VA and Dahlia Boggs, Kingsport; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Grizzle, Weber City, VA; also surviving her are three brothers, John David Johnson, Starks LA, Carroll and Helen Johnson, Starks, LA, Lloyd Johnson, Starks LA; two sisters Jo and Jim Granger, Maryville, IL and Hilda Smith, Starks LA. Many nephews and nieces also survive her.
Janice was a loving mother and wife who found pleasure in giving and doing for others. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She faithfully attended First United Pentecostal Church of Rye Cove for many years and later attended and worked as a church secretary at Christian Life Center in Kingsport until her health failed.
At a Pentecostal altar, at age 12, Janice repented of her sins, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Danny Grizzle, Rev. Keith Barker, and Rev. Dennis Grizzle officiating. Singing will be the Gate City United Pentecostal Church Trio.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
