OBITUARY
Jo Allen "Jo" Johnson Granger was born on August 2, 1939, in Starks, Louisiana, and passed from this life on August 7, 2022, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Jo was a devoted wife, Mama, and Nana. She may have been from a tiny town deep in Louisiana, but her presence was felt across the world. Her Starks upbringing grounded her in the love of family, friends, and Christ. As a young woman in Louisiana, she met and married a young US Air Force Airman. As a military spouse, Jo supported her husband Jim's 30-year military career, stationed across the US and in Germany. At each location, she touched lives and made forever friends. She was blessed with an extended family that included other military families, coworkers, and many neighbors at every welcoming home. After the military, she and Jim remained a part of the Scott Air Force Base area and Maryville, Illinois community for over 30 years. She and Jim recently moved to Burkburnett, Texas, to be close to their daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jo loved all and was loved by all.

She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, James "Jim" Granger; son, Jeff Granger and wife Sheryl; son, Chris Granger and wife Amber; daughter, Missy Granger Mire; brother, Carroll Johnson and wife Helen; grandchildren, Ashley Granger, Kristen Blackmon (Robert), Elijah Mire (Hannah), Zachary Mire (Debra), Kaitlyn Mire, Liam Granger, Camden Granger, and Julian Granger; and great-grandchildren Joseph, Bella, Beau, Jentri, Roman, Shepherd, Remington, and Jenelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney Johnson and Johnnie Willa Siau Johnson; brothers, Clyde Johnson, John David Johnson, and Lloyd Johnson; sisters, Janice Linda Johnson Boggs and Callie Hilda Johnson Smith; and son-in-law, Michael Mire.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL. The funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, IL., with grandson, Elijah Seth Mire officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
