John H. Harper was born in London, England, April 5, 1845, and died February 7, 1916, at Bennet, Neb., aged 70 years, 10 months and 2 days.
He was married to Sarah M. Kunkler December 26, 1867. The aged wife and five children mourn his loss. Two children died in infancy. Mr. Harper came to America when he was two and a half years old. He spent his boyhood in Illinois, and came to Nebraska in 1887. He moved to Lancaster county in the spring of 1893, where he resided at the time of his death.
In the year 1875 Mr. Harper confessed his faith in Christ and united with the Methodist church. He believed in Jesus at the time of his death.
Rev. Dressler officiated at a short service held at the home Wednesday at 10 a.m. The body was taken to Reynolds, Neb., Thursday. The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James K. Gregory, Reynolds, Neb. On Friday at 2 p.m. Pastor Lee spoke on "The Christian's Hope." and several appropriate hymms were sung by the choir. The body was laid to rest in the Rose Creek Cemetery.
"One more from cares and tolls of earth set free.
One more with ransomed souls for ages to be.
Lord Jesus, grant us all a place with thee,
At home in Heaven."
