Fort Bend Herald, September 19, 2018:

Funeral service for Charlie Barnes, 76, of West Columbia, will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Blue Run Baptist Church, 215 N 16th, West Columbia, Texas 77486, where Pastor Felton Joseph will be officiating and Pastor T. L. Richardson will be the eulogist. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Needville. Visitation will be on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Blue Run Baptist Church in West Columbia.

On December 26, 1941 in West Columbia, Texas, a son was born to Charlie Bonds and Priscilla Evans whom they named Charlie Barnes. He was reared in West Columbia where he attended Charlie Brown School and graduated in the class of 1961. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. D. T. Thomas. He met and married Almetrie Davison.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, working at Kittie Nash and The Columbia Cemetery where he worked for over 50 years. His most favorite pastime was bar-b-queing. He bar-b-qued most every Sunday under the tree where he fed family, friends, and strangers alike.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Celestine C. Woolsey, Almeda C. Harris, and Annie B. Crump; three brothers, Leon, Prince Jr., and Steve Edwards; and one sister, Juanita E. Robertson; in heaven they shall meet again.

Left with a lifetime of memories are his wife of fifty plus years, Almetrie Davison Barnes of West Columbia; two sons, Deandrea Barnes, Sr. (Dana) and Bobby Crump, Sr. (Megan); two daughters, June Barnes Perry (Al) and Dinnie Davison Miller (Lester); one brother, Murphy Bonds; five sisters, Rosie Wiley (Elijah), Mattie Humphrey (Amos), Dorothy Edwards (John), Bessie Edwards, and Marylyn Bonds; one uncle, John Joiner (Arthryne); three aunts, Stella Tolbert, Janette Beverly, and Katherine Joiner; twenty-three grandchildren; one dedicated grandson, Jarvis Barnes; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
