Ernest Layton Fentress, 79, of Christiansburg, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late James Asa and Annie Murphy Fentress.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Louise Thompson Fentress; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Marla Fentress of Clayton, N.C., Bryan and Julie Fentress of Roanoke, Va.; six grandchildren, Courtney, Scott, Austin, Corbin, Annie, Casey; one sister, Evelyn Fentress and special sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Tootsie” Fentress, both of Virginia Beach, Va.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Makin officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association or a Charity of your choice.
