A native of Princess Anne County, she lived the last year with a daughter, Mrs. Helen Brown, at 419 Washington St., Plymouth.
She was a Baptist. Her late parents were Charles W. and Mrs. Laura Land Murphy.
Besides Mrs. Brown, surviving are three other daughters, Mrs. Virginia Dawley and Mrs. Evelyn Carroll of Norfolk and Mrs. Louise Herndon of Virginia Beach; four sons, Asa P. Fentress, Milton W. Fentress Sr. and Elbert R. Fentress of Virginia Beach and Ernest L. Fentress of South Boston; a brother, Clarence C. Murphy of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home.
