Relda Nef Huskinson McGary, 89 died Sunday Aug. 26 2018 of natural causes at Lincoln Court assisted living center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Relda was born Sep. 8 1928, in a little white house in Burton the fifth of eight children to Emil Nef and Eva Lenora Johnson.

She had a great life growing up on the farm swimming in the canals, going to Pincocks Hot springs(Green Canyon now) playing with the many cousins that lived close by. She always said she had a very close extended family. Her Dad was born in Switzerland and she would say due to her Swiss blood she loved to hike and be adventures. She would love to hike the canyon walls at her sons ranch even into her 80’s until she was limited by walking with a walker, but still would hike around the block at Lincoln Court. Relda would always love to go on family vacations with her children and had seen many parts of the world.

Relda also had challenges in her life. When she was 12 years old her mother passed away suddenly from child birth. With her older Sisters married or gone to college a lot of the house work was left to her and her younger sister to do. She said that every day Belva and she would come home from school to a sink of dirty dishes to wash.

On May 29 1946 shortly after High School graduation she married her high school sweetheart Sherman Leo Huskinson in the Idaho Falls Temple and to this union was born 4 children Linda, Elaine, Alan and Kirk. Sherman farmed and worked for farmers in the Rexburg area for a while until they needed to move to SLC to find work. They lived in the Salt lake area for about 10 years until Sherman’s Dad got sick and they moved back to Rexburg to help him with the farm. This marriage ended in a divorce after 30 years.

She would later meet David Leroy McGary and marry him On Nov 1 1980 in the Idaho Falls temple. With this union came 5 stepchildren Dennis, Larry, Robert, Carol and Betty along with their spouses which she enjoyed very much.

Relda worked several jobs to help with the family income such as selling clothes at J.C. Penny, Clerical work at PCA farm loans, and 22 years as text book buyer for the Ricks College book store where she retired from.

Relda had a very friendly personality everyone that met her loved her she always saw the good in others. All the workers at Lincoln Court loved Relda like she was their grandmother especially the Executive Director Joe because she was his grandmother. She would always laugh when they would call her the teacher’s pet because of her grandson was the Executive Director.

Relda was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life and taught the importance of the church to all her children which they all remain active in the church today.

Relda will be missed, she was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
Relda is survived by her children; Linda (Bob) Marshall Belgrade Mont., Elaine (Sid) Summers, Alan (Judy) Huskinson, Kirk (Kari) Huskinson all of Rexburg. Step-children Dennis (Carolyn) McGary Beaverton Ore., Larry(Clarica) McGary Hemet Calif., Robert (Mary) McGary Irvine Calif., Betty (Vince) Harrison Ucon Id. 24 Grandchildren, 51 Greatgrandchildren, and 3 Great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 stepdaughter, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter, 1 great-grandson.

The Relda McGary family would like a special thanks to all those that took care of her at Lincoln Court and One Source hospice that made her last days comfortable.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday Aug. 30th at the Rexburg North Stake Center, 314 E 2nd North with Bishop Rob Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends and families Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and from 10-10:45 at the church.
