George T. Edwards of Georgian Terrace Huguenot, a retired contractor for Edwards and Cherry builders, Port Jervis, and a lifetime resident of the area, died Friday, April 3, at Mercy Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 79. The son of the late Stephen and Mary Hawkins Edwards, he was born Dec 15, 1912, in Mongaup. He was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis; a member of Elks Lodge 645, Port Jervis, and a founding member of Pole Bridge Rod and Gun Club, Cuddebackville. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Reynolds Edwards, at home; one daughter, Barbara Edwards of Port Jervis; one son, William Edwards of Honeoye Falls; two sisters Alice Burrows of Huguenot, and Edith Henry of Port Jervis; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. and from 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at Knight - Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St. Port Jervis. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis. The Rev Donald B. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville. Memorial contributions may be made to Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis.
