Mrs. Martha Aughton, 84, of Neversink Ave. died yesterday in St. Francis Hospital, Port Jervis, after a long illness. Born in Mongaup April 18, 1891, the daughter of Stephen and Mary Hawkins Edwards, she was married to the late Irving J. Aughton. A lifelong resident of Port Jervis, Mrs. Aughton was a member of Drew Methodist Church and Gold Star Mothers. Survivors include a son, Irving Aughton of Middletown: three daughters Agnes Fricke of Olive Bridge, Margaret Cherry of Huguenot and Ethel Pine of Sparrow Bush, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also, two brothers, George Edwards of Huguenot and James Edwards of Greenville; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Burrows, Mrs. Emma Anderson and Mrs Matilda Lewis of Huguenot and Mrs Edith Henry of Port Jervis. Also, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 A.M., at the Knight Funeral Home, 154 E. Main Street, Port Jervis, with Rev. Robert Foster officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, in Sparrow Bush. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Aughton to the charity of your choice.
