Virgil Ray McCord, 74, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at Community Hospital of Anderson.
Virgil was born on March 28, 1944, in Elwood to Virgil W. and Mary A. (Shrock) McCord. He retired from the City of Anderson.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Della (Sparks) McCord; five children, Nicole (Matt) Blair, Virgil (Shelly) McCord Jr., Brad (Christy) McCord, Kevin (Heather) McCord, and Kelly (George) O'Bryant; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Carpenter; three brothers, Frank (Kathy) McCord, Charlie (Brenda) McCord, and Ernie (Phyllis) McCord; brother-in-law, Richard (Inez) Bess.

He was preceded in death by both parents; eight siblings; granddaughter, Verena; and great- grandson, Leo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Luke St. Clair officiating.
Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services.
