Clark Stevens was the son of Sarah Halsell Stevens and William Stevens.
William Stevens purchased land in Mississippi in 1852, returned home to South Carolina for the move west and died before the move could be made. His widow Sallie completed the move bringing her entire family to Mississippi with the exception of two daughters who were already married.
Clark was the eighth son of the family. Of the nine boys, at least seven served in the Confederate Army. Clark served in Perrin's Regiment: Co. D, 11th Cavalry.
He and his sister Rejina took custody of nephews Joseph, John and Leverett after the death of their brother William David.
