Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Cathedral with burial in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.
A native of Lebanon, Mr. Rice emigrated to the United States in 1920 and lived in Detroit. He moved to Jackson in 1922. He was a longtime Jackson businessman and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Cedars of Lebanon Club in Jackson as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held a third and fourth degree status. He also was a member of the Order of Elhamabra. Mr. Rice owned and operated Rice's Food Store in Jackson from 1932 to 1964. He also owned City Grocery and Market in Raymond from 1964 to 1971.
Survivors are: wife, Adelle; daughters, Yesmine J. Rice of Jackson, Mary Anne LeFoldt of Jackson; son, Joe G. Rice Jr. of Jackson and five grandchildren.
