Ara Caldona Bishop was my grandmother's sister and the ninth child of the fourteen children of William Wright Hudlow and Eliza Jane GAROUTTE Hudlow. She was called Dona by her family and friends. Her grandparents included William Beaver Hudlow and Maragret WILLIAMS Hudlow along with her maternal grandparents, Isaac and Martha Jane SMITH Hudlow.

On April 22, 1906, she married Bertie Vivian Bishop, son of Samuel Joseph and Mary Ann Bishop. They were married in Hatton, Washington. Dona and Bertie became the proud parents of six children with the first two being born in Franklin County, Washington and the next four being born in Adams County, Washington. They named their children, in order of birth, Thomas, Florence, Samuel, Donald, Ronald, and Robert.

In making their life together, Dona and Birdie were engaged in farming. One of the saddest times of their marriage was the death of their son, Samuel, at age two. He had been named in honor of his grandfather.

After 45 years of marriage, Dona lost her husband to death. She lived another 22 years.

Having been preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, and eleven of her siblings, my great-aunt was survived by her five other children, grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. She was, also, survived by two brothers, Clint and Ed Hudlow.

Ara Caldona "Dona" Bishop was very much loved and missed by all. She was almost 90 years old.
