My great-uncle, Joseph Alfred, was the first son and oldest child of William Wright Hudlow and Eliza Jane GAROUTTE Hudlow.

He was born in Mountain View, Missouri. He was to be blessed with thirteen brothers and sisters, including my grandmother, Amanda Ulmann HUDLOW Arnold, all of whom were born in Pottersville, Howell County, Missouri.

He was the grandson of paternal grandparents, William Beaver Hudlow and Margaret WILLIAMS Hudlow and of maternal grandparents, Isaac Garoutte and Martha Jane SMITH Garoutte.

Joseph Alfred Hudlow married Mary Jane FOX, daughter of Allen Jefferson Fox and Marriah STEWART Fox, on September 4, 1890.

They became the parents of four daughters, Leona, Lola Charity, Ola E., and Lalla Bertie. As his daughters married, he became a grandfather to eight grandchildren.

Great-uncle Joseph Alfred was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1952, his parents, and two of his sisters.

His survivors included his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, most of his siblings, and a host of family and friends.

He was so loved and missed by all.
