Joel Brower, Sr., 1929-1974, age 44, Services in Iowa

    WELLSVILLE – Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brower returned Saturday from Des Moines, Iowa, where they were called by the serious illness and death of their son, Joel M. Brower, 44 of Avon Lake, Iowa. Mr. Brower died Wednesday, October 23, from cancer, after a three month's illness.

    He was born November 9, 1929, at New Florence, Missouri. He was married November 19, 1955, and had lived in Des Moines seven years before moving to Avon Lake, Iowa, where he operated Joe's Color TV Service. He had lived in Avon Lake for the past 13 years. 

    A veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Carlisle Legion Post.

    Survivors include his wife, Harry Brower of the home; two step-sons, Ken Wilson of Torrance California, and David Jones of Des Moines; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brower of Wellsville, Missouri; five brothers, Bob, Mesa Arizona; Phil, Paso Robles, California; John, Shelbina, Missouri; Jessie, Gravette, Arkanas; and Paul of Columbia, Missouri.

    The funeral was held Saturday morning at Richardson's Funeral Home in Carlisle. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, Iowa, ID 189538032. American Legion services were conducted at the grave.
