Emma Catharine (Halliwell) Dawson - Becker, a daughter of Levi Halliwell and Mary Elizabeth Spice, was born 30 May 1862 in Seville, Ohio. She died 2 May 1943 in Norton Twp., Summit Co., Ohio and was laid to rest on 5 May 1943 at Mound Hill Cemetery. She was first enumerated on the federal census in 1870 at seven years of age as a student residing with her parents in Seville Village.

Emma was twice married -- She married (1) on 18 Dec 1880 in Medina Co., Ohio, Orlin A. Dawson (1861-1917), a son of Hiram Dawson and Lucy A. Johnson. Emma and "Orland" were united by Seville native, Chauncey Spear, J.P. [Medina Co. Marriages, Vol. E p141]. Orlin was born on 1 May 1861 in Wayne Co., Ohio. He died as the result of a Railroad accident on 27 Jan 1917 near Brunswick in Medina Co., Ohio. He was buried on 31 Jan 1917 in Mound Hill Cemetery.

She married (2) William B. Becker (1877-19-37). Emma married (2) on 27 May 1918 in Wayne Co., Ohio. William was but once married, entering into matrimony at the age of forty. He was a son of German natives, Edmund Becker and Catherine Engle. William, a baker by trade, was born on 27 Jun 1877 in Cleveland, Ohio. He died 11 Jan 1937 in Rittman, Wayne Co., Ohio, and was laid to rest 13 Jan 1937 at Mound Hill Cemetery. In 1900, he and his parents resided on Dunham Avenue in Cleveland's eighth district.

Emma was known as a forceful woman. During the construction of her home in Seville, she visited the site daily. It has been said that if the carpenters used a piece of lumber that was unsuitable to her, she would ask them to replace it. This home remains standing today (2009) and is located on the southwest corner of High and Main Streets. By 1930, Emma and William had removed to South Main Street in Rittman Ohio where he owned and operated a bakery.

Her death was recorded at the Ohio Bureau of Vital Statistics as Emma Becker, aged 79y 11m 3d, a white, widowed female died 3 May 1943 at Rev. Dyes Convalescent Hospital, Norton Twp., Summit County, Ohio. Cause of Death: Myocarditis. Contributing Cause: Senility. She was buried 5 May 1943 in Seville, O. Emma was a Rittman Ohio housewife, and wife of William Becker. She was born 30 May 1863 in Seville, Ohio to Levi Halliwell, born in Seville, Ohio, and Mary Spice, born in Wooster, Ohio.
