Levi Halliwell, the sixth child of Joseph Halliwell and Catherine Coolman, was born 1 May 1839 in Guilford Twp., Medina Co., Ohio and died 21 Dec 1897. He was laid to rest at Seville's Mound Hill Cemetery.
He was a life long resident of Guilford township. As a child, Levi attended the Moore School, as depicted in the following letter penned by his niece, Lydia Ellen (Lance) Moore-Vaughn -- "John Halliwell, Jacob Moore, Daniel Coleman, Joseph Ault, George Mc Dermotte, Jacob Smith, Uriah Johnson and Joseph Halliwell. These are the sons of the heads of families that lived in the section where my mother (Nancy) Ann Halliwell, went to school. Just a quarter of a mile north of the Wayne County line the Moore School stood on the north side of the road, facing south, on the southwest corner of the Jacob Moore farm, today (date of letter unknown) owned by William Peebles. (Sec 4 SW) The commissioners or trustees moved the school house two miles west near Seville and then it was sold to Joe Foster for a tobacco barn. The new school was built at Mc Elroys Corners, then moved back to Lee road and children east of Jacob Moore were sent to District # 9. Pupils Levi, Dave, Lydia, Jacob and Susan Halliwell." NOTE: The Moore farm was one mile south and two miles east of Seville.

Nuptials were performed by Wiriman (sic) Cotton, J.P. The Return was filed 5 Jul 1862 and signed by Probate Judge, Thomas S. Johnson and Deputy Clerk, J. B. Sonvill [Wayne Co. Levi was a Blacksmith and loved to play the violin. he and his wife, Mary, resided in Seville at the southeast corner of Spring and Center streets, one block north of Hubbard Creek. Their Spring Street residence, Lot 101, is depicted on the 1874 Krause map of Seville. Levi's Blacksmith shop was located on the rear of said property. It was here, that he made his wife a small calling bell with which to summon him from his shop. The bell is currently (2009) in the possession of hid 95 year-old granddaughter, Marguerite.
The following excerpt is from "A Book About Seville 1818-1966, by Lee Calvin (pp 45-46) -- On 15 December 1871, the Seville council decided that "since the location of the L.S.& T.V. Railroad makes it important for corporation purposes certain land lying on the south side of Market street and on the east side of said railroad" it would pay Jacob Wells $500 for 70 feet off the west end of three lots he owned there. This provided for a public highway which now (in 1966) serves Seville Elevator and Akron Products Company. The town also had to move Well's sidewalk, barn and fence for him under it's agreement. It (the village of Seville) borrowed $100 from Miss Sarah Chapin and issued notes to Wells for installment payments on the balance due. The village also built the crossings and relocated part of Water Street for the new railroad. Council paid the following bills for this work: Dan Flickinger $4; H. Houghton $2; F. Fickes $3; William Laughlin $5; A.J. English $4; J.D. Edwards, the mayor of village, $4; John Fullerton $4; E.G. Miller $2; L.W. Minnie was an excellent seamstress and dressmaker. She was a student of Mrs. Redman in Seville. In 1898, following her father's death, she shared her Cleveland residence with her son James Clark, Jr., her mother Mary (Spice) and her brother Frank. Minnie married, 26 Dec 1899 in Cleveland, Ohio, Andrew Allen Swagler, a son of Jonathon Swagler and Ann Elizabeth Werkheiser.
On 30 Jun 1898, a cemetery deed was issued to Frank M. Halliwell, son of Levi and Mary, for family plot 625, which consists of five spaces in row 3, east of West Drive. A single large black granite stone, shared by Levi, his wife Mary and their son Frank.
