Ida May Josephine Word, 72, died Wednesday, June 11, after a brief illness. Services are pending in Hominy, OK, with Powell Funeral Home.

She attended Phillips University in Enid, OK, a longtime resident of OKC and Bethany. She made her home recently in Osage, OK, with her husband, James W. Word, who survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs Betty K. Reed, Clarksville, TN; and Jamey L. Faddah, Amman, Jordan; one son, Jack A. Word, of Bethany; 8 grandchildren; brother, Clifford N. Barber, OKC; sister, Kathryn B. Pope, Osage, OK.

She was an active member of First Christian Church, Hominy, and had been a very active member of Putnam City Christian Church and Penn Avenue Christian Church in OKC. She served as a District Officer and a State President of the Oklahoma CWF for four years.

Active in Girl Scouts for 38 years, she was presented the Thanks Badge in 1958, the highest award given an adult. For over 10 years, she served as a Volunteer Council Cookie Chairman for the Girl Scout Council of Greater OKC.
