Bertha "Berte" Agnes Owens. Per Bertha's request "Please no flowers, donations if any, should be made to the Denver Archdiocese Samaritan House or other poor."

Born March 4, 1923 Park, Kansas - Passed September 3, 2015 Denver, Colorado

Preceded in death by her husband, George Richard Owens. Parents, John and Agnes Depperschmidt and her brothers and sisters.

Survived by children, Carma (John) Fehrer, Noreen Owens, Carson Owens, and Stanley (Kathy) Owens. Grandma Berte loved her 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Bertha was born in Park, Kansas where she attended grade school through high school. Berte was the youngest of 17 siblings. She was independent and adventurous from an early age. Berte moved to Denver in 1942, and lived with Sister Betty and George (brother-in-law) as a condition by her mother Agnes. Berte attended college classes and began working in the Denver area. In her free time she enjoyed dancing and attending various social events. She met George Owens and married him.

She became a widow at an early age and raised all her children with her strong religious beliefs. As the children grew up, married and had families; Berte was there to give love, guidance, and support to her children. Berte worked tirelessly in her career and in her home. Once she retired she enjoyed going downtown on the bus daily. Berte attended Mt. Carmel Church and later at The Holy Ghost Church in downtown Denver. She spent a lot of time having coffee with her friends at McDonald's. Berte was passionate about family gatherings and her door was open to her family at any time. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake. No one could make jell-o with fruit and marshmallows like her! Holidays were always so wonderful with home-cooked goodness, love, and comfort.

Her Faith helped her stay strong throughout her life. She never complained, always made the best of everything with a lot of laughter, and had the best stories of her life to share. Some of her other active interests were reading, puzzles, talking on the phone, and humbly taking care of her home. She was the center of happiness for her family and well respected by everyone who knew her.

The family wishes to convey their thanks and appreciation for joining us in the celebration of her life.
