Obituary: Esther Whitmore Jensen
4/12/1907 ~ 4/6/2004

Esther Whitmore Jensen, age 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away April 6, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born April 12, 1907 in Midvale, Utah to Samuel and Elizabeth Letitia Grange Whitmore. She was the seventh of 11 children. She married Jefferson Bradley Jensen on August 24, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in 1949.

She was devoted and dedicated to her family. Her life was one of sacrifice and hard work. Many were the recipients of her labors of love. She did beautiful handwork and was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed the many hours she spent working in her garden and yard. She served numerous others by caring for both the sick and elderly people. She was a wonderful example of service to those who knew her.

She achieved a lifelong goal by graduating from the University of Utah in 1961. She served an LDS Mission in Indiana from 1975 to 1977.

She is survived by her children: Verl (Reva) Jensen, Annette (Ralph) Emery, Salt Lake City; Gayle (Scott) Hathaway, Roseville, CA; Diann Smith, Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, with a new great-granddaughter due in July; sister, Leda Young, Gilroy, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband; a baby daughter, Darlene; a great-grandson; a great-grand daughter; and nine siblings, James, Lynn, Ora, Elizabeth, Melba, Alton, Grace, Rex and Sammie. We know she is enjoying a sweet reunion with her loved ones on the other side.
