She was born Jan. 3,1919 in Winchester to the late Ernest L. and Esta O.(Betts)Cook. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Simmons was a former employee of the Boston Store, Winchester and the Rockport,Tex.,Wal-Mart. She was a member of Chapelwood Baptist Church, Winchester.
Survivors include one son,Terry(wife:Gloria) Simmons of Tacoma, Wash,; two brothers, John T. (wife:Marjorie)Cook and James Cook,both of Winchester; three sisters, Helen M. Kidwell, Doris M. Fisher(her twin) and Clara Jeanette Ashley, all of Winchester; and one granddaughter,Katie Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Simmons in 1984; one sister, Margaret L. Cook in 1993; and one brother, Ernest L. Cook,Jr.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home,Winchester with Rev. Russell Fraley officiating. Burial is at Fountain Park Cemetery,Winchester.
