James W. "Cookie" Cook,70,of 508 N. West St.,Winchester, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday,Sept.2,2003 at Ball Memorial Hospital,Muncie.

He was born April 11,1933 in Winchester to the late Ernest L. and Esta O.(Betts)Cook. A 1951 graduate of Winchester High School,Cook attended Ball State University,Muncie. He retired after 37 years with Anchor Hocking glass, Winchester,where he worked as a mould maker. Cook was a member of Phi Delta Kappa fratenity,Winchester. He was acting president of the Winchester Parks and Recreation Board. He played in the high school band and was well respected in Winchester and Randolph County.

Survivors include one brother,John T.(wife:Marjorie)Cook of Winchester;two sisters, Helen Maxine Kidwell and Doris Fisher,both of Winchester;a good friend, Louise Addington of Winchester;and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters,Clara Jeanette Ashely,Dorothy Simmons and Margaret Snyder;and one brother, Ernest L. Cook,Jr.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester,with Pastor Howard N. Becker officiating. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery, Farmland.
