Doris Belle Richards Beckstead 1917~ 2007
Our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Doris Beckstead, 89, passed away March 1, 2007 at Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Union, Utah on June 15, 1917 to James Earl and Myrtle Forbush Richards. While working at the Murray Laundry, Doris met and eventually married Verl Reed Beckstead. They were blessed with two children, Doris Kay (Craig) Bullock and Richard Verl (Renee) Beckstead. Doris worked for several years at a Harmon's Bakery and enjoyed it very much. She loved gardening, and her yard and flowers were among the nicest in the neighborhood. She was a longtime resident of Midvale and had many friends there. Left a widow at age 49 by the untimely death of her husband, Doris kept up her home and large yard until her health required a move to an assisted living facility in June 2006. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a Primary and Visiting Teacher for many years. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Verl; and a grandson, Jason Richard Beckstead.
Survived by her two children and their spouses; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; also survived by a sister, Mildred Brereton, and two brothers, Gene and Don Richards.
The family would like to thank the staff at Alta View Hospital and Garden Terrace. A special thank you to everyone at Hospice for Utah for their wonderful support and comforting care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Perpetual Education fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State where friends may call Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
