Mary Anna Hill was born in Washington township, Gratiot, MI in 1868 to Benjamin Franklin Grubaugh and Sarah Ellen Washington. She was the 2nd of their 11 children. She spent her entire life in Michigan. She was married twice. She married William Otis Allen on 24 Dec 1887 in Eureka, Clinton, MI. Her sister, Emma Louise Grubaugh, married Perry George Allen, the brother of William. William died in 1895, after only 8 years of marriage. Anna and William had two children - Bessie May Allen and Nellie Allen. Anna then married Nelson Hill on 11 Nov 1897 in Eureka, Clinton, MI. They had 5 additional children. They were Hazel M. Hill, Archie Ray Hill, Lenora Hill, Robert Hill plus one more child unidentified. Mary Anna died in 1909.

Mary Ann Grubaugh Allen Hill died September 30, 1909. Her funeral was held at the Evangelical church near Bridgeville, Rev. J. D. Feather officiating. She is buried at Union Home Cemetery. Next to her plot is a monument that looks like an old rusted stove. This is supposed to be the William Otis Allen grave. Mary Ann Grubaugh Allen bought the lot 22 in Union Home Cemetery, March 8, 1895.

Obituary - Mrs. Anna Hill
Anna Hill, nee Grubaugh, was born March 15, 1868, and died September 30, 1909, near Shepherd, Michigan. In 1887 she was united in marriage ot William Allen, to which union were born two daughters, both of whom survive their mother. Mr. Allen died in February 1895. In 1897 Mrs. Allen again married, to Mr. Nelson Hill, to which union were born five children, three sons and two daughters, all of whom survive their mother. She was a kind mother and when left a widow took good care of her two little girls. She was converted and accepted her Lord as her Savior, whose peace she was permitted to enjoy during the E. V. church during her sickness. She leaves a husband, seven children, eight sisters, two brothers and other relatives to mourn her departure. Funeral was held at County Line E. V. church, Oct. 3d; interment in Union Home cemetery, Rev. D. J. Feather officiating.
