Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Charles Q Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.
Mr. DeWitt was born Dec. 24, 1901 at Corwith, Iowa, to George Irving and Maud Irene (Thompson) DeWitt. He moved to Mason City at the age of 5 and attended a country school south of Emery. He farmed for 17 years in the Hanlontown area and then south of Mason City.
He married Florence Hollenbeck (1901-1983) on Sep. 15, 1920, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Eagles, and the Moose Lodge, all of Mason City.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Cline, Eagan, Minn; Mrs. Doris Gourley, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Joyce Julsen of Mason City; three sons, Kenneth, Hanlontown; Francis, Mason City; and Robert of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Mrs. John (Elnora) Wachowski, Lansing, Ill. and Florence Lorenz of Aurora, Ill.; two brothers, Harry of Madison, Wis., and Marvin of Council Bluffs; 29 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence, in 1983; two daughters, Clarice and Iris, two sisters, Cleole and Helen, and three brothers, Noel, John, and Willis.
Honorary casketbearer will be Brad Julsen and the casketbearers will be Michael and Craig Julsen, Douglas Cline, Kelley Gourley, and Darrel, Kim, Tom, and Jim DeWitt.
Special music will be performed by Janice Bouma and Joanne Magden. The songs will be "God Be With Me Till We Meet Again," and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee,". Obit: Mason City Globe Gazette.
