Ida Louise Grimm was born November 13, 1871 at Millersburg, Iowa County, Iowa, the third child of Daniel and Molly Grimm. She departed this life on July 29 at the age of 86 years, eight months and sixteen days.
She grew to young womanhood in Iowa and on December 30, 1891 she was united in marriage to Edmond Jesse Adams. To this union nine children were born; Estella, Arthur, Lucy, Edith, Franklin, Neva, Kenneth, Eunice and Vivian. Besides rearing their own children, they found room in their home and hearts to take a motherless child into their care and raise her to young womanhood.
The Adams made their home for the first ten years of their married life on a farm in Iowa, after which they moved to Groton, South Dakota, abiding there two years. Then they moved to Wetmore, Kansas, making that vicinity their residence for nine years. Purchasing a farm at Blaine, the family moved there. Selling the farm, Mr. and Mrs. Adams moved to Wheaton, Kansas. Because of failing health. Mrs. Adams spent the last two years of her life in a nursing home.
As a girl in Iowa, Mrs. Adams was baptized and became a member of the United Brethern church. In November of 1922 she transferred her membership to the Wheaton Congregational Church. She was an active member of the church and its several organizations. She was a helpful member of the Ladies Aid and Missionary society, finding great joy in the work of these groups. She served her family, church and community well.
Often she would go to home where there was sickness or need of any kind and willingly helped out where ever she could. She loved flowers and successfully raised them, graciously sharing many a beautiful bouquet with her friends and neighbors.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Mrs. Edith Plummer, who passed away June, 1944, and her husband, Edmond, who passed away December 26, 1957.
Surviving to mourn her passing are eight children-five daughters; Mrs. Estella Noe, Bend, Oregon; Mrs. Lucy Northup, Blaine, Kansas; Mrs. Eunice Tibbetts Wamego, Kansas; Mrs. Neva Noe, Topeka, Mrs. Vivian Harrington, Wheaton, Kansas; 38 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Grimm, residing in Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Services were held at the Wheaton Congregational Church with the Rev. Millard Marshall in charge. Interment was in the Wheaton Congregational Cemetery.
