Daughter of the late Virgil and Samantha Griffin, of Clinton, Tenn,formerly of Estesburg, Ky, she worked for the United Department Store for 10 years. She outlived two husbands, Samuel O. Back; the father of her children, and Mr. T. E. Flynn. Mattie was the mother of; seven children, F. Landis, Sylvia, Nathalia, Jack, Billie, Dale and Jerry Back, all of which have preceded her in death except Jerry.
