William Rankin Milligan was the son of William Alexander & Cordelia Caroline (Myers) Milligan and husband of Verna Genevieve MacKnight. He was born in the Bangor area of Butte County, CA and moved with his family to Marysville about 1904. Here he attended the local schools and followed in his elder brother John Everett Milligan's footsteps, working in the pharmacutical field. He worked in many drug stores first in Dixon, California and then in San Jose, California. For many years he was Head Pharmacist at Aqnew State Hospital, north of San Jose, and then for many years had a pharmacy in San Jose, CA.
