Sterling O’Neal King was born in Victoria, Texas on July 30, 1927 to the proud parents of Frank and India King. Sterling was the second of six children born to this union. Being raised with a solid Christian foundation, Sterling always thanked God for his many blessings. He dedicated his life to Christ as a child and was baptized at Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Victoria, Texas.

Sterling received his formal education in Victoria, Texas and while attending school, he met and married Dovie Williams. To this union six children were born, Linda, O’Neil, Arlee, Ronald, Wanda and Stella.

In 1977, Sterling united in holy matrimony with his current wife, Alice. From this union Sterling inherited three daughters, Valerie, Cheryl and Carla Kemp.

After leaving Texas, Sterling pursued a career with Alcoa Aluminum Company in Los Angeles, California. He retired in 1990 after 24 years of service. Sterling’s love of life was well noted by his many friends as well as his sense of humor.

Sterling’s favorite activities included cooking, gardening, spending time at the “office” and bowling. He bowled in many leagues and tournaments.

Sterling departed this life May 2, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alice, six children, three step-children, one sister, Julia Dear, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, son-in-laws, and many other relatives and friends.
