Mr. Epka Anne Roorda, at the age of 74 years and 24 days, died at the Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 6, 1947. He was ill four days.
Mr. Roorda's father was Anne E. Roorda and his mother was Doetje Buwalda. He was born at Pella on February 9, 1873 and has always resided here.
On February 10, 1898 at Pella he married Johanna J. Verhey and to this union five children were born.
His parents and two sisters preceded him in death, also two sons, Andrew E. died at the age of 2 1/2 months and Andrew V. died at the age of 18 years.
He is survived by his widow, one son Roy H. and three daughters, Marie (Mrs. Chas. Toom), Dora (Mrs. B. P. Groenendyk) and Georgia (Mrs. G. H. Tysseling). There are ten grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Abe A. and Wiggert A. and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Bogaards and Mrs. R. Vander Ploeg.
Mr. Roorda was a farmer by trade and member of the First Reformed Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 1947 at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2:00 p.m. from the First Reformed church. The Reverend A. Haverkamp officiated.
Bearers were Andrew Buwalda, John Buwalda, Andrew Bogaards, Paul Roorda, Ralph Kuiper, and Gerrit Kuiper.
Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery, Pella, Iowa.
