Born June 23, 1921 in Armington to Alfred and Bessie Mae (Simpson) Erps, he married Marie L. Spahr on November 10, 1950 in Bloomington. She died February 6, 2015 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two step-sons, Jackie "Jack" Hudson and Kelvin Hudson of Riverton; three sisters and nine brothers.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Stanley Hudson of Jerseyville, Debbie Bradford of The Villages, FL and Karen Coseby of Riverton; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two step-daughters-in-law, Linda Hudson of Pekin and Florence Hudson of Riverton; three brothers, Donald Erps, Howard Erps, both of Pekin and Edmund (Lisa) Erps of Westside, Iowa.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Raymond worked at Caterpillar, Inc. as a machinist for 23 ½ years, retiring in 1983. He also had worked at Excel Brass Foundry & Machine in Pekin for 11 years.
He had been a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church.
His graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. John Vaughn will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
