Alice B. Grinstead, age 90, of Cadwell, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Greg Lowery will officiate. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be at Townsend Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00pm.

Mrs. Grinstead was born on November 23, 1926, in Laurens County, and was a lifelong resident of Cadwell. Ms. Alice, as she was known to many, was a dedicated and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as nursery teacher for many years and a member of the Agape Sunday School class and member of WMU. Her love for her church was evident in the many hours of time she spent cleaning, organizing and preparing the church for Sunday service. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yards and making and sharing her special recipe of “Ms. Alice’s” tea cakes.

She worked many years with the Laurens County Board of Education school system as a lunchroom worker and also worked at Allen-Bradley and Mohawk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.V. Grinstead and son, Sherrill Grinstead. parents, Augustus and Emma Bond, sisters, Nellie Thompson, Lillian Grinstead, Mary Upshaw, Hazel Christian, brothers, Leonard Bond and Townsend Bond.

She is survived by her son, Ken (Jenny) Grinstead of Macon and daughter, Cathy (Clifton) Smith of Cadwell, grandchildren, Brad (Amanda) Grinstead of Richmond, New Hampshire, Matthew Grinstead of Macon, Shane Grinstead of Dublin, Torrey (Bishop) McIntyre of Cadwell, great grandchildren, Blake Grinstead of Dublin, Austin Jones of Rentz, Katlyn and Reese McIntyre of Cadwell, Mary Grace, Anna Marie, Madeleine, Elise, Michael and Maura Grinstead of Richmond, New Hampshire and brother, Wilber Bond of Warner Robins.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Upshaw, Charles Thompson, Don Christian, Carroll Grinstead, Danny Evans and Wayne Christian.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 40, Cadwell, GA 31009.
