Doris Kathryn Douty, 95, of Adams, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Cedar Court Apartments in Adams.

Doris was born on Dec. 15, 1921, in New Haven, Iowa, to Perry and Mary (Elgas) Elliott. At age 8, they moved to Stacyville, Iowa where she completed her education, graduating from Stacyville High School. In 1944, she married Ellis Douty in Austin, Minnesota. They moved to California while Ellis was serving in the U.S. Navy. After the war, they moved back to the Dexter area, and finally settled in Adams in 1956.

In her spare time, Doris enjoyed quilting; she made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed painting and music. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and a past president of the Woman’s Auxiliary. Doris and Ellis were also honored as the grand marshals for the dairy days parade in Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis; parents Perry and Mary Elliott; sisters and brothers-in-law Orian and Walter Brown, Pauline and Norbert Blaser, Carol and John Vogel; sisters Myrna Bissen and Alice Elliott; brothers Michael and Dean Elliott; and sister in-law Virginia Elliott; brother and sister-in-law Eldee and Lorma Douty; brother in-law Milton Bjerke; and son-in-law Raymond Wiste. Doris is survived by her nine children Bob (Janet) Douty of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Kay (Denny) Distad of Burnsville, Minnesota, Lester (Sue) Douty of Riverside, California, Janette (Thomas) Nolan of Mankato, Minnesota, Monica (Larry) Mullenbach of Rose Creek, Lynn (Russ) Weber of Brownsdale, Minnesota, Jim (Sarah) Douty of Adams, Lillian Wiste of Plainview, Minnesota, Julene (Michael) Nolan of Minneapolis; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Isabel Mullenbach of Adams, brother- and sister-in-law, John (Theresa) Elliott of Utica, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Eva Mae Bjerke, Richfield, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Fred Bissen, Stacyville; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at the Adams Funeral Home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church for one hour before the service on Monday morning.
