Oliver lived his entire life in Bancroft. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a member of the Bancroft Ward, where he had served in many callings and was a high priest. He served an LDS mission to the central states.
Oliver participated in the Chesterfield Roundup until he was 92. He was grand marshal of the Caribou Fair Parade and the Bancroft 24th of July parade. He enjoyed farming and fishing. He had always had a garden.
Oliver is survived by two sons and four daughters and spouses, Lester O. and Roene Barfuss and Von L. Barfuss of Bancroft, Isabel and Roger Griffeth, Franklin, Idaho, Coreen and Bruce Alder of Preston, Idaho, LaRene and Bob Grover of Idaho Falls, Rea and Terry Bell of Pocatello; 30 grandchildren; and 71 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Kim Barfuss, one daughter, Jan Schmidt and one brother and five sisters.
Services are scheduled for Monday, October 31, 2005, at noon at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bancroft Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
